- Blackthorn explodes with white blossom in the early spring, followed by bushy green new foliage and dark blue sloes in the autumn - these can be picked in November and made into sloe gin!
- A fully hardy, fast growing plant which will reach a height of approx 4m but can easily be maintained at 1-4m
- Blackthorn will grow well in all soil types and sites, and is especially hardy in exposed, windy and coastal locations
- Blackthorn supports many bird and insect species including bees and other pollinators. The thorns make this a safe place for birds to nest - always check before pruning
- The dense thorny foliage makes this a wonderful natural security hedge
